“In Korea, this year imported car market will be much more competitive as Audi-Volkswagen is expected to resume sales in Korea”
Mercedes-Benz Korea CEO Dimitris Psillakis said above at annual press conference held on Monday.
“I welcome Audi-Volkswagen’s resumption of sales in Korea. If more brands with different styles and characteristics come and coexist, it will be good for customers since it will be able to help extend the range of customer’s choices”, Psillakis added.
It seems that Audi-Volkswagen will resume sales very soon. Audi already launched its sports car R8 V10 last November, while Volkswagen is going to launch Passat GT next month.
Mercedes-Benz Korea is going to introduce seven new models and they expect to sell more than 70,000 cars this year. Those seven new cars include E-class cabriolet, facelifted S-class coupe/cabriolet, new CLS, facelifted C-class and new G-class.
Especially, the third generation CLS will play the most important role this year for Mercedes’ growth in Korea. In Korea, second generation CLS is available now, and Korea is second largest market in terms of CLS sales volume.

According to Mercedes-Benz Korea vice president Martin Schulz, New CLS will be launched in summer in Korea.
“With the introduction of new CLS, Mercedes will seek new strategy and show the brand’s future direction to Korea”, Schulz explained.
